She let her flashlight wash over the side of the road, examining every little thing, not wanting to overlook anything. She had thought that she saw something while driving down the empty road; actually, she knew she saw something, but she didn’t know what. It could have been a deer, or any other animal that resided in dense forested areas, but she wanted to make sure that it wasn’t something else that could cause untold damage against the unsuspecting city this road lied just outside of.
SO FAR, she didn’t have any luck. There was no sign of the thing that darted in front of her car as she had been driving. She let out a small sighed and turned to look back down the road, trying to see her car from where she was. Apparently, time had gotten away room her, and she had traveled a little too far away from her own car, which had probably been hijacked by now. Not that she cared, because she had stolen the damned car anyway. Her head pounded as she kept going, determined that there had been something out there.
IT might had been because of her lack of sleep. Even though she’s either been sleeping in cheap motels and stolen cars for over a year now, it hasn’t gotten any better. Lucie still had trouble getting used to the life of a hunter, now that she had been on her own. She used to do only small jobs just outside of Pittsburg, the kind of jobs that would be done and over with before dinner, so that she could make it home in time. But now, it just seemed like she had been on the road forever. Lucie hadn’t had an actual jo in about a month, and it was beginning to make her wonder.
IT made her wonder about if it was even worth it anymore. She dragged her feet slightly, as she let out a yawn, contemplating on whether or not to turn back to see if the car had still been there. It would be a waste if it weren’t, though. Lucie decided, that even though it was practically pitch black outside and chilly, that she would continue her journey on foot. She didn’t know where she was headed to anyway, and it would be more interesting where she would turn up if she were to walk. Lucie kept the flashlight steady, as she continued down the empty road.
SHE was a bit nervous, though. It was late, and she didn’t know if she were to run into anything, or if anyone would run into her. But, Lucie was a bit too analytical for her own good. She normally over thought things, and gets worked up about it. She’s good at scaring herself by her own thoughts, even though barely the situations she thinks up ever happens. Lucie took a few moments to take some deep breaths, reassuring herself that there wasn’t anything out here that could potentially hurt her. She continued on her way, humming a song that she couldn’t remember the name of, trying to assure herself that she would be all right.

Mind you the people these were so much easier to manipulate. It wasn’t anything like when he was out before. People knew about demons and were prepared for them but now that wasn’t the case. I mean sure people had all kinds of demonic movies and all sorts of signs pointing to demons but they just turned a blind eye. People were happy living in their little bubble of delusion. If they saw something they couldn’t explain they probably made up all sort of crazy explanations. Anything that didn’t scream supernatural would surely do. Course that made I so much easier for him to do what he needed to do.
Appearing on the dark road, he heard more then saw someone coming towards him. It had to be a hunter, no one else was stupid enough to walk down a road like this alone. That made it all the more fun for him. He was itching to kill a hunter but first he had to find out some things and this hunter just might be able to help him.
Preparing to play the innocent, he sat down on side of the road and put his finger to his head, cutting a small silt and feeling it start to bleed. He put his head in his hands and waited patiently. Hunters couldn’t help but to help someone in need and he was hoping to take advantage of that quality.

Lucie had been walking for a while now, and she was beginning to get used to the quietness of it. She still didn’t know where she was, or where she was headed, but that was something she wouldn’t worry about. Lucie always ended up in a small town or city, when something like this happened. It wasn’t hard to find civilization these days, because most of the old farms and woodlands had been destroyed long ago for housing developments, condos, apartments, and many other things. So, it wouldn’t be hard for her to find some place to jack another car, or at least, to find some work in the meantime.
HER backpack was slung over her shoulder, bouncing slightly as she walked. Lucie was somewhat at ease, sure that the worst of the walking was over, and that she would find some place to crash for the night, and quite possibly, the whole next day. Truth be told, she hasn’t been getting enough sleep lately, for a reason she couldn’t quite explain. It might have been her paranoia, or maybe she just couldn’t. Lucie didn’t even have nightmares or anything, save those random ones that mean completely nothing, like being chased by a killer clown in an abandoned circus tent. The reason was beyond her, but she hoped after this long walk, she would be tired enough to actually fall asleep for once.
THE soft breezes sent chills up her spin, causing her to grip her jacket more tightly around herself. Lucie never really liked the cold,; if she were ever to retire, she all ready had plans to move to California and live at the beach, But she was sure that she’d never see that day. One of hands were shoved deeply into her jean pockets, preventing it from getting cold, as the other one lea the way with the flashlight. She took one small step after another, savoring the peaceful quiet of the road. As she walked, her flashlight was aimed directly at something on the side of the road, which looked hunched over, maybe laying down, or something.
AS she had gotten closer, she could see clearly that it was a man, a man holding his face. ”Oh my god.” |
Lucie breathed, as she hurried over to him, dropping her backpack to the ground, and knelt beside him. ”Are you okay? What happened?” She rested her hand on his back, as she eagerly awaited his response. Maybe she had seen something afterall. [/div]

Octavius heard her coming over and prepared himself for it. When she placed her hand on his back, the first thing he wanted to do was rip her arm out of its socket. He hated humans with a passion and having touch him made him want to scrub his self with bleach. But if he wanted his plan to work he needed to push those thoughts aside and do what was needed.
He looked up confused when she asked him what happen. “I don’t know.” He stated in a scared voice. “One minute I was walking down the road looking for a gas station or a pay phone…..and the next…” He paused and looked around liked he was scared for effect. “Something ran passed me.” He whispered to her while leaning a little closer and touching her arm. “You got to get yourself out of here. I….I didn’t see it but I got this.” He told her while pointing to his forehead. “Go…before it comes back.”
He put his hands back on his head and tried to stop the bleeding, all the while smiling on the inside. If he was right and she was a hunter then she couldn’t help but to help him and try to figure out what had attacked him. Man hunters were so predictable. He wanted just once to meet one that was actually a challenge. One that didn’t act like a typical hunter. Its been a while since he been in the real world but it seem to him like time didn’t change at all. Hunters were still all about protecting the innocent. They never saw the big picture.

He looked rather shaken up about it, pretty scared about it, indeed. She felt bad, having been too lazy to go back and get the car, maybe if she had, she would have been able to drive this man to a gas station, or something, so she could take care of whatever the thing was that had attacked him alone. Lucie’s eyes darted to his hand, which had carefully grazed her arm, and she looked back at him, eyes wide, horrified at whatever the thing was that had attacked him. She looked at his wound on his forehead, moving his hands out of the way as she did so.
She took to her bag, rummaging through it until she came across a towel, and a half filled water bottle. Lucie scrunched the towel up, and then poured a little bit of water onto it. As she was doing so, she turned her attention towards the man, observing his features. He was rather handsome; in fact, though she wasn’t going to let his looks distract her from what she needed to do. Once she was finished damping the towel, she grabbed his hand, and laid the scrunched up towel in his palm. Lucie then moved his hand to his forehead, pressing it against the wound on his forehead.
”Hold that there, please, it’ll help slow the bleeding,”
|
She said, as she closed the cap to the water bottle and placed it back into her backpack. This was a situation she hadn’t been in for a while, and it was refreshing to actually be helping someone for a change, rather than constantly breaking the law, and having a zillion near death experiences. Lucie crouched next to him, in silence for a few moments. ”Can you walk all right?” She asked him, looking at him sternly. ”I could call an ambulance or something, if you can’t, or if anything else hurts.” Lucie always had her cell phone handy, even though it was under a fake alias, of course. She ran her hand through her hair, a habit that she did either when she was bored, or nervous, which was what she had been at the moment. Though, she had been stressed about life in general for the past few, quiet weeks, having at it with whatever creature had caused this man pain. Lucie could get bitter, to say the least, but taking things out on a creature was a good way for her to relieve her stress. [/div]

Octavius did as she asked and held the towel on his head. He watched as she crouched down next to him and started to talk to him. "No..I mean yeah..Yeah I can walk but no I don't need an ambulance." He said while shaking his head from side to side a little.
She seem sweet to him. If he actually had feelings he might have felt bad about killing her when he was done with her. Since that wasn't going to happen anytime soon, she was as good as dead. He might even go all out for her since she treated him so nice. He did loved putting on shows and what’s more fun then letting the world watch someone get tortured and die. Maybe he'll just let her family watch her die, that was always fun. The victim seeing their love ones cried and beg for their life as they sit helplessly not able to do anything. He was going to have to think that one through and make it special for her.
He stood up slowly, didn't want her to think he was pretending by giving himself a head rush. Looking over at her he nod his head in the direction of the road. "We should get out of here before that thing comes back.” He waited a few minutes for her to respond before quickly adding with a sly smile, “Can't really protect you with a splitting headache."

From what Lucie could tell, there weren’t any signs of whatever it was that had attacked this man. She looked into the forest, though she couldn’t see anything from where she was. ”Are you sure?”
|
Lucie asked him, as he got up, and she could tell that his head was probably still bothering him, due to the way his body had moved. She looked at him, clearly concerned about his well being, as she always was when it came to a victim. Lucie could be compassionate, when she wasn’t in one of her moods, especially to those that are hurt. The wind howled, as she hugged her blue leather jacket around herself, scoping the place out. Lucie blinked a few times, trying to remember that she was with somebody else, trying not to escape into her own little world, where the only thing that mattered was hunting down, and destroying the things that went bump in the night. She was thrust out of her thoughts, by the sound of his voice, saying they should leave. Lucie giggled a bit at his own little joke. ”I don’t think I need all that much protecting, Mister,” She said casually, with a small smile. It was the truth, though; she wasn’t a damsel in distress, a point that she would more than happily prove to whomever thought that way. Lucie couldn’t help but look back at the forest, intrigued by how mystic and dark it seemed, thinking about how the thing that attacked this man could have been watching her right now. ”I’ll be right back,” She said softly, turning to him only for a moment, before gazing back into the forest. ”I’m just going to check the forest out to see if that thing is in there,” Lucie explained, and headed into the branches, pushing them out of the way. Her flashlight was still by her side, bringing light in the darkness. She was tense and cautious, making sure that she had her tracks covered, though she didn’t want to go too deep into the forest. The more he thought about it the more he seem to like the idea of burning her alive on a stake. It had all the right elements in it, not only would she be in agony for some time but her parents would get to watch as well. It was perfect. But he was getting ahead of himself. The more he thought about killing her the more excited he got and that was one step away from where he wanted to be. He needed to think about his plan first. After he was done with the part that he needed her for, then he can have all the fun he wanted.
He tilted his head to the side a little when she said she didn't need protecting. "Thats not all that surprising actually." He said with a little laugh. "I mean you are walking down a dark road by yourself with something out there trying to hurt, hell maybe even kill people."
He took the towel off his head and was glad to see it had stop bleeding. Her voice caught his attention again and before he could respond to her she was off heading into the forest. "Wait." He said going after her. "You might be able to take care of yourself but if you're going to go after it, then I want in. After all it did attack me." He told her while looking into the forest trees.

Sometimes, she couldn’t bring herself to deal with the hysterical “I’M SUCH A VICTIM” shctick. It got on her nerves, even though they had every right to be scared. She had a short tolerance of people like that, though; she encountered them a lot, due to her ‘profession’. This man was quite the catch, she thought to herself, as she continued through the densely populated-with-trees area. Lucie let out a small sneeze, before turning around, noticing that the man had followed her into the woods.
She grinned at him lightly, as she ran her hand through her hair. ”Well, just try to keep up then, if you really want to help me look for this thing,”
|
Lucie said, casually; she wasn’t even sure if they would find the thing, but it was new to her to have someone tagging along. She glanced at his forehead, he was no longer holding the towel to his head, and she had a feeling of accomplishment, because she had noticed that his forehead wasn’t bleeding anymore. She lead the way, signaling with the flashlight where they were headed, and so far, they had no luck. It didn’t look like whatever it was that had attacked the man was coming out of hiding anytime soon. They soon came upon a clearing, and Lucie plopped herself on a tree stump, folding her legs and looking around. It was somewhat frustrating, when this sort of thing happened, trying to find something that won’t show itself. She picked up a small rock, and threw it into the bushes, not sure of the reason, maybe seeing if she would miraculously hit something of interest. It landed with a thud, causing no movement from out beyond the shrubs. Lucie let out a small sigh, turning her attention back towards the man. ”I don’t think the thing wants to come out,” She stated, smoothly. ”What’s your name, by the way? I normally ask people that when I…well, see them on the side of the road. But in your case, I suppose I forgot,” Lucie asked, with a tiny grin. ”I’m Lucie, by the way.” [/div]

Octavius followed her into the woods, making himself look like he was being careful and looking around at his surroundings. Really he was borer then he’ll ever been. Wanting to rush his plan along was stupid and he just had to keep telling himself that. Going through the boredom was just a short price to play for a successful outcome.
He stopped where he was going when she stopped walking and sat on a tree stump. She asked him his name and he had to stop his self from lying, the less lies he used around hunters the better. “Octavius.” He told her with a simple tone while he leaned against a tree. He could have made up an last name but that would have took too much effort, then he would have to remember it and all that good stuff. It was best just to keep things simple.
“Are you one of those danger seeking people?” He pretended to ask curiously. “Cause not many people would go after something that knocked a grown man out. That is unless there’s something you want to tell me?” He asked her curiously. He wanted to see what she would say, if she would admit to being a hunter like he thought she was. “Or let me guess, you’re one of those people that likes ghosts and all that crap. Want to try and communicate with them cause they just want someone to talk to.” He added with a slight laugh. “I’m hoping it’s the first one cause those ghost people are just whacko’s.”
