The scream was what woke her out of her otherwise peaceful nights rest. Instinctively, she shot out of bed and grabbed her gun laying on the nightstand. The scream had come outside, and it definitely wasn’t any of her neighbours. Kameryn quickly gathered up some clothes that were just lying on the floor and dressed on her way to the door. When she pulled the door open she quickly realized that she wasn’t the only one whose attention was gotten from the womans scream. Only a few people had opened their doors to check and see what all the commotion was, none of them seemed to be doing anything more than stare blankly into the darkness. Kam tucked away the gun in the back of her shorts, no need to cause further alarm waving guns around.[/blockquote]
“Where did it come from?” she asked. “The check in desk,” she said gruffly before slamming the door shut.
Kameryn raced down the stairs. Oh why did she have to get a room on the top level. As she came around to the check in office she found that all the blinds were closed, something was definitely going on in there. Was the place getting robbed? She tried the door and was surprised to see that it opened and wasn’t locked. The place looked like it had been raided, tables were turned over coins and money were all over the floor and there was blood on the walls. Kam took out her gun at once, there wasn’t anyone in sight as she stepped closer to the counter she could see the body of the woman who had checked her into the hotel earlier that day on the floor and lifeless. “Shit,” she said lowering the gun. She was too late, the robber was probably long gone by now. Just as she was about to turn away, something caught her eye by the womans head. She stepped closer and identified it as ‘shapeshifter gunk’ as she liked to call it. “Fucking shapeshifters,” she muttered.
After deciding the room was clear Kam left, intending to go hunt down this shapeshifter. The first stop, her room to get some silver as this was the only way she knew how to kill it. Quickly she grabbed a silver dagger and concealed it in her bra, a backup plan if the silver bullets didn’t do it. She also picked up a small pink camera and set it to record. The only way to identify a shapeshifter was to catch their retinal flare while they were being recorded; she let the camera hang from her wrist by the wrist strap. Another scream could be heard in the darkness, this one sounded closer, could it possibly be in one of the rooms? Kam already had an idea what the shifter looked like, in her experience it took on the form of someone it had just killed. In this case it would be in the form of the lady at the checkout desk if it hadn’t already switched. She knew she was going to look ridiculous to anyone that saw her. Running around shoving a camera in everyone’s face with a gun in hand, she just hoped she wouldn’t have to start knocking on doors.
