The sound of breaks screeching, and the ‘boom’ of a collision. She groaned as she rolled over in the cheap motel bed, and stared at the ceiling for a few moments, contemplating whether or not she should get a bit more rest before heading out. It would only slow herself down, and keep her from where she needed to be, she thought, but she didn’t know exactly where she needed to be yet. Lucie yawned, and threw the covers off of her, and then scampered off into the small bathroom.
”Ew,”
|
She breathed, as she looked at herself in the mirror. Her hair was a complete ball of fuzz, so she quickly brushed out all of the knots and threw it up into a messy bun. Lucie went through her normal morning routine, brushing her teeth and likes of that, while trying to get herself ready for the coming long drive. Her mind was always complete mush in the morning, so it took her quite some time to remember where she had put her backpack full of clothes. After about ten minutes of searching, she found it, tucked away under her bed. She quickly put on a pair of jeans, and a tight fitting navy blue top, as she packed up the rest of her stuff into the overly packed backpack, reminding herself that she should invest in a duffel bag. Lucie let out another yawn and stretched for the first time that morning, feeling a bit more at ease now that she was somewhat awake. She flung the front door open, and stepped out, blinking rapidly at the all ready high sun. The accident that she had heard was a few blocks down, and it was a nasty one too. Lucie observed the scene as police took statements and the drivers argued over whose fault it was. It was nothing compared to other ‘accidents’ she had witnessed, so she headed over to the car she had jacked the day before. Lucie dug through one of the backpack’s pockets, and fumbled with the keys, inevitably dropping them, and somehow, they managed to get underneath the car. ”Peachy, just freakin’ peachy.” She growled, as she kneeled down onto the ground, peering under the car for the keys, annoyed at her lack of hand eye coordination. Lucie reached, the tips of her fingers touching the metal of the keys, as she tried desperately to get them out from underneath. [/div]

"Those drivers seem like a couple of hot heads." Lucie's car shifted ever so slightly as Jack leaned on the hood of her car.
The Trickster watched her, waiting for the young woman to give him her attention. Though, he assumed she had already sensed his presence before he rested on her car. "You know, the ones down a couple blocks. I saw you watching them." Jack paused for a moment. "Well, I wasn't 'watching' you. That's kind of creepy."
Having his breakfast of syrup-soaked pancakes, Jack noticed two men arguing about something or other. He was trying to enjoy his meal, while they had the nerve to disturb him! While he wasn't particularly fond of harming people, he would do it if he had reason. They had some anger management problems to work out, so he set them up for an accident. The two jerks would get into a fight, locked up for a day or two, and they would come out a little better. Or ordered to get proper help.
Jack waited for the hunter to respond. Or at least, he had a hunch that she was a hunter. Not that that turned him off to talking to her.
As for why Jack was talking to her, well, he was simply looking for someone to talk to. He didn't exactly have tons of friends and companions. He took any opportunity he could to start up a pleasant chat.

It was embarrassing, or at least, she thought it was embarrassing, but she needed her keys. How else was she supposed to get from point A to point B (wherever those may be)? Lucie sighed, and went limp for a few moments, staring at the keys that were practically just out of her reach. As soon as she was going to try yet again, she noticed that the car shifted slightly, and she heard the voice of a man say something. All she could make out was “driver” and “hot heads” because she hadn’t been focusing on that at the moment.
Lucie popped up on her knees, and looked at the man; she hadn’t seen him before in her life. It was always odd to her, when people just struck up random conversations in the strangest of circumstances. He hadn’t even introduced himself or anything. She shuffled to her feet and dusted herself off slightly. ”I get what you’re saying,”
|
Lucie said with a tiny grin. As mush as she didn’t like talking to random people, it was always nice to get some face time with someone, rather than something. ”But I know, I could her them yelling from my room,” She added, as she glanced over at the scene, watching as they tried to clear things up. ”So, I kinda dropped my keys under my car,” Lucie started, and her eyes darted to the car. ”And I can’t really reach them…so if you wouldn’t mind, could you try getting them for me?”” She asked, as she tucked a strand of stray hair behind her ear, hoping that he had longer arms than she did. Taking interest in how the two men's ordeal was going, Jack turned his head toward the accident scene. One man took a swing for the other just then, the police acting swiftly. The attacker was quickly pinned up against the cop's car while the other, despite seeing what had just happened, managed to give him a punch in the face. The other policeman had him on the ground in a split second. "Certainly are a noisy duo."
Jack scoffed, smiling at what he had caused. A night in jail would do those two punks a world of good. Let that be a lesson to them not to disturb a Trickster's meal. Lest he follow suit with the rest of the majority of Gods and change his diet from sweets to humans.
The car shifted once more as Jack moved away from Lucie's vehicle. "Sure. I'll give it a shot." The something smiled, as he took a few steps forward toward the middle of the car.
He was a little suspicious. Hunters seemed to have a second sense for the supernatural. The girl had taken a bit more interest than she should have about the accident. Somehow, probably unknown to her consciously, she knew that something inhuman had caused it.
His hand waved off Lucie, asking her to scooch over so he had ample room to reach her keys.
One palm on the ground, Jack was on all fours as his other arm extended underneath the car, attempting to grab the girl's keys. It wasn't the most graceful thing she had ever seen, but he was definitely getting further in than the young woman had.
Face pressed against the side of the car, Jack felt the small metal object in his grasp and chuckled. "Got 'em!"

She tried to imagine what she would have done in she had gotten into an accident like that; she didn’t think that she would get violent with the other person, but she had a hunch that she would have been pretty pissed off. The circumstances of the accident were a bit out of place, or so she thought, because the street wasn’t even all that busy. She shrugged the feeling off, though, because accidents could happen just about on any road at any place.
It was strange that the man had talked to her as well, now that she thought of it. Though, she was partial to these things because she had what they call a ‘pretty face’. But still, it was odd. Lucie tensed up a bit, but she could have been overreacting, after all, she was rather prone to getting worked up over nothing. This guy could just be some random person who wanted a conversation. Or he could be something else. That uncertain feeling she gets whenever around new people was something that she wished she didn’t have, but she was a hunter, and she needed to be cautious.
She gave the man a little smile when he agreed to help her get her keys. It was a relief, because she would have probably ended up spending most of the day trying to pi]reach
|
her keys, instead of getting the hell out of wherever she happened to be. Lucie peered back over at the scene of the accident, as it was starting to get cleared up, before glancing down at the man, and letting out a small giggle at the way his face had looked, because it was smushed against the side of her car. ”Thanks so much!” Lucie exclaimed happily, once she heard the two words she was hoping for. Good. Maybe she didn't notice, he thought, keeping his smile.
Jack had used telekinesis to pull the keys a couple of inches toward his hand. He might have been able to reach them without his abilities, but that could have taken another minute or two. He wasn't about to spent his time on the ground trying to fetch a girl her keys! Pfh.
Standing up, he brushed the dirt off of his shirt that had collected there. Normally, Jack would be wearing a suit or something equally as fashionable. Today was a bit of an off day. Besides, it was so early in the day!
...What? Gods can have lazy mornings too.
"Here you go, miss...um..." Jack paused as he handed the young lady her key. "We haven't exchanged names yet! I'm Jack." He gave her a soft smile.
Glancing over to the accident scene, there was slight satisfaction in his eyes. It had gone just as he expected. A little bit violent, of course, it had to be. His victims, though no serious injuries, seemed to have lost some blood during their tussle. Rain would wash it away from the pavement soon enough.

Not that this man was boring her or anything, it was just that she was, well, generally tired. She watched at the man dusted off the dirt on his shirt, and waited for him to finally give her back her keys. She had places to be, even though she still had no idea where. It was just like any other day, though, drifting in and out of towns, investigating crazy shit that no one would ever know about.
It was kind of annoying; the fact that no one knew about her good deeds. She couldn’t brag to anybody about killing a thing that had caused people harm, because there weren’t very many hunters anymore. Or there were, but she just didn’t run into them. That was another thing that bugged her; she never had any help when it came to killing things. Lucie had always ended up doing the deed herself, no matter how hard it would be. And she would have at least thought that she would have ran into another hunter by now.
She drew her attention back to the man, who had been presenting her with her keys. Lucie gingerly took them from him, wiping off a bit of dirt that they had collected while being underneath her car. ”Oh, uh, thanks Jack,” |
She said, as she gave him her own smile. ”I’m Lucie, it’s nice to meet you.” Lucie said, giving him a small nod. It didn’t hurt to be somewhat formal, sometimes. [/div]

Free of the key, Jack placed his hand into his pocket, smile remaining on his face. Who would have thought that a God would be doing petty favors for a human? Honestly. Getting on his knees and straining his arm to get a tiny piece of metal? It was a little absurd, but, whatever it took to get on this young lady's good side was worth it.
Assuming she was even a hunter, anyway. But she was showing the common characteristics. Not that that was a sure fire giveaway. Perhaps he was just being hopeful.
"Lucie, okay! Pleasure to...uh..." Jack's smile suddenly turned to a frown as he held his head. Something was beating away at the back of his head. Why did--
"Lucy! I'm home," said Gabriel, Archangel blade in hand as--
Snapping back to reality, Jack looked back up to Lucie. He lightly shook his head. "I'm sorry. Headache, I guess." That was new. It seemed like watching a short clip of a movie. But, almost like a memory, too.
"So, what are you doing out here? Traveling somewhere, or do you just live in a motel?" He chuckled, nodding toward the small building beside them.

Lucie’s eyebrows furrowed slightly as she looked at Jack, who seemed to have gotten a “headache” out of the blue. Was it something that she had said? She was somewhat concerned, and wasn’t afraid to show it, because he did seem like a generally nice person, after all, he had helped her get her keys. ”Uhm, it’s all right. Are you sure you’re okay, though?”
Lucie questioned, as she pocketed the keys, knowing that she probably wouldn’t be heading out as early as she had hoped thanks to this man. Not that she really minded. Well, she did mind, but he hadn’t been rude or anything, so maybe he was worth the time. Still, something seemed rather off about him. Something that she couldn’t put her finger on, but it was there, and it did bother her slightly. Lucie tried to get past the fact that something about him irked her, because she didn’t want to give away the fact that she suspected something. So, she kept her mouth shut, and ran her hand through her hair as the accident that had happened began to fade from her mind, and how this strange man began to replace it. She wondered what he did for a living, and why he was here. ”Just passing through town,” Lucie answered with a small smirk, though she did practically live in motels, but not just a specific one. Lucie has been all over the United States and has stayed in countless motels, more than she could ever begin to count. ”What about you? Are you a local?” Lucie asked, raising an eyebrow. He had asked her, so there was no harm in asking him, she assumed. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Jack nodded, putting one hand on Lucie's car as his other rubbed the back of his head. "Yeah. A little headache is nothing. Absolutely nothing." He smiled.
Though Jack doubted he was actually okay. He had felt sort of...different ever since he was freed from his extra dimensional prison. The Archangel Gabriel, some part of him, was inside of Jack. Through visions, flashbacks, and just an overall sensation, Gabriel was becoming more and more prominent in Jack. What this meant or how it came to be, Jack could only guess. Gabriel was feeding off of Jack's powers for centuries, during that time the Archangel must have established a psychic connection with Jack. And now Jack had the strangest feeling that Gabriel was alive. How could that be, though? It didn't make any sense. None.
The trickster shook his head and looked back up at Lucie. He had paused for a few more moments than he wanted to.
"Passing through, I see. Vacation, seeing family maybe? I know how it is," lied Jack. He had absolutely no idea 'how it is'. He had no family or time for vacation. "As for me, I'm just going for a morning stroll. I don't leave here, though. Never stayed in one place very long to be honest." Jack patted his stomach. "I'm walking to burn off the calories. You have no idea how much fat is in half a dozen pancakes drenched in syrup."
Hah! Tricksters couldn't gain weight unless they wanted to. It all just turned into energy. Not even a thousand pancakes would put some pudge on the prankster! Jack's mouth watered just thinking about flapjacks. Could he really consume a thousand of them? A challenge for later.

I'M ON THE HIGHWAY TO HELLliving easy, living free season ticket on a one-way ride Lucie wasn’t convinced that the headache was nothing, and the curiosity was beginning to get the best of. She tucked both of her hands into her pockets and cocked her head to the side slightly, as she observed him to see if he was still hurting from that “headache”. There were no visible signs of any pain, so she just decided that it would be best for her to let it go for now. If anything else happened, she wasn’t going to hold back though; she didn’t care what he would think, but she just wasn’t going to leave it alone if it were to happen again.
She shrugged at his inquiry. ”I guess you could say that I’m on vacation. Got kinda tired of the hometown, so I just decided to come out here. It’s nice to get a change of scenery once in a while,”
Lucie lied, smiling a bit. She had always been a good liar, but why she was even lying to this man, she didn’t know. It could have been the fact that there was just something off about him, but he was a stranger, and most likely after this she would never see him again, so it didn’t matter whether she lied or not. It was just a force of habit, she supposed. She laughed a little when he mentioned the pancakes, trying to mask the sound of stomach rumbling. Lucie hadn’t thought about food up until now, and pancakes sounded particularly appetizing at the moment. ”Great, now you’ve gotten me hungry for some pancakes,” Lucie gave him a friendly smile, trying to forget about the whole incident with his “headache”. ”Well, I’m sorry If I’ve been keeping you from your walk,” She said, half because she felt kinda of bad, and half because she wanted to get on her merry way, and maybe stop at a diner for some pancakes. He and this girl had been striking up a rather long conversation together. Jack would be lying again if he didn't think it was sort of nice. It made him feel a little normal. The only people he would talk to otherwise were his victims and anyone that he felt deserved their "just desserts".
That brought up the question of why he was talking to her in the first place. What brought him over to the girl at her car? Jack wasn't so much of a pervert that her crouched and bent over attracted. It was a spur of the moment thing, he imagined. Plus, having someone to talk to about the car accident helped soothe his ego a little. Though there wasn't as much bragging as he would have liked.
"Don't worry about it. Believe me, I'm not too upset about my walk being interupted." He chuckled, slowly moving from Lucie's car. Whatever had plagued him earlier seemed to have vanished. "But, if you're in the mood for pancakes, I wouldn't mind taking a little stroll down to the diner with you. I could go for a short stack. Or two. It's literally right down the street!" Jack nodded his head toward the diner's direction.
It was hard to tame his craving for the sugary, syrup-drenched bread. First he randomly stopped by this stranger, now he was inviting her to a meal! He certainly saw the strangeness in the situation, but it was all for a purpose. Jack could have gone by himself but he had plans for two.

I'M ON THE HIGHWAY TO HELLliving easy, living free season ticket on a one-way ride Lucie raised her eyebrows at him with a small grin. She was beginning to forget about the whole “headache” thing, he was just a man after all, just a man and nothing else. She didn’t know why she had gotten so riled up about the whole headache thing, but again, she was known for overreacting over small stuff. But this was kind of different, actually talking normally with someone for once, rather than questioning witnesses, or pretending to be a cop.
It was different in a good way, of course, and this guy didn’t seem half bad. He actually didn’t really bother at all; compared to some of the other people she had met recently. Lucie shrugged the thought off, not wanting to think about then and to focus on now. Here she was, in the company of a genuinely nice man, having a conversation about pancakes. These sorts of conversations were hard for her to come by due to being a hunter, so she decided that the next town could wait a while. She was warming up to the idea of talking with this man a little longer, because there wasn’t really anything waiting for her in the next town.
She laughed lightly, as she folded her arms across her chest. And she did feel a bit excited at the fact that he had offered to go with her to get some pancakes, even though he had all ready had some. She grinned widely and nodded. ”Yeah, sure that sounds great!”
Lucie replied, shrugging a little bit. This was definitely odd, but getting out of her usual habit of spending no more than a night in a random town was a bit refreshing, especially now that she someone to share it with. "Wonderful! Even just talking about food gets me hungry. Hah." Jack nodded his head down the street and began to walk, expecting Lucie to follow.
The two of them walked together, Jack making light conversation as they neared the diner. Weather, the accident, and pancakes, specifically. This was honestly fun for Jack, being able to talk so calmly and passively with a regular person. Made him feel like he had a mate, an actual friend.
However, Jack was Jack. He was a Trickster. He was not a human, and expecting him to think and act like one was not possible. His train of thought ran on a different set of tracks. In this case, Lucie had been tricked by the Trickster.
A good minute had passed since they began their walk. The perfect distance away.
"Sorry, Lucie." Jack gave a playful grin. "I need to check something. Meet you back at the motel?"
With that, Jack vanished in a shimmer of blue light. In reality, it was not actually Jack, it was illusion. It had never actually been Jack. When the Trickster gave Lucie the keys he picked up from the ground, they weren't really her keys at all. It was actually a twisted fork he had taken from the diner. Lucie would realize this now.
Ca-Clunk!
The real Trickster was back at Lucie's stolen car. He had picked up the set of keys from underneath the vehicle. And now he had the trunk propped open with a shotgun from her small armory of weapons.
"Hunter if I've ever seen one." Jack eyed all the guns and knifes as he slipped his hands into his pockets, waiting patiently for Lucie to arrive. Probably rather upset, too.
In his defense, he did say he was sorry.

I'M ON THE HIGHWAY TO HELLliving easy, living free season ticket on a one-way ride They walked for a bit, having a nice conversation on the way over. It was very different than what she was used, but that wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. Plus she was getting pancakes, and pancakes always put her into a good mood. This Jack guy wasn’t half bad from her standpoint, and she was happy that she got to postpone the endless hours of driving for a bit, in order to enjoy this man’s company. Lucie was extremely relaxed and calm, she hadn’t been in the company of a “real” person in ages, and she was thoroughly enjoying it.
That is, until he disappeared right in front of her. A rush of anger flooded over her, as she took off back towards the motel as quickly as she possibly could. Everything was going perfectly find, until Jack had to completely ruin everything, and the fact that he had deceived her this entire time had just made her even angrier. Lucie reached into her pocket as she was running to get her keys and realized that it was a bent spoon. She threw it once she entered the parking lot and took a moment to catch her breath before walking over towards her car.
And there he was, going through her trunk. She walked up to him, folded her arms across her chest and gave him a long hard look. ”Get the hell away from my trunk,”
Lucie said softly, trying to hold back the instinct of slamming the trunk down on his fingers. She beyond annoyed, and she certainly wasn’t going to be friendly anymore, but she didn’t want to go off the deep end. Though, she felt like screaming inhis face and possibly hitting him, she didn’t, because she didn’t know what this thing wanted. ”What are you, and what do you want?” The question was straightforward enough, and if he didn’t answer, than fine. She’d get her keys back, and be on her way, not wanting to deal with whatever this thing was. LYRICS;; HIGHWAY TO HELL - AC/DC TAG;; ODDRIC <3 WORD COUNT;; 336 OTHER;; SHE'S PISSED.
