She didn’t like staying in this big house for so many hours, it was creepy Especially now with her mother gone.. It was creepier. Dressed casually in a purple short top and a pair of denim shorts to fight the heat, Brooke decided to take a walk into the city; though every corner, every step was bringing her memories from her childhood. Her steps led her to her old high school, were it all happened. She didn’t even know what had happened that day. She hadn’t seen anything. She didn’t know who did it.. The only thing she knew was that he left her last breath in her arms, a couple of months after 10 year ago.
~*~Flashback~*~
She was glad school was finally over. Last school day ever and she was gonna spend her weekend with her boyfriend, Adam, away from everything and everyone, a weekend just the two of them. She walked through the main halls of the school to get to the fields where they would meet and then they could go pack their stuff and get away. She had been waiting for this moment a couple of months. A grin was tugging at her lips as she was closing the exit of the building "See you on Monday" she said to the friend that was walking with her that headed to the left to meet some other friends.
Stepping out of the building to the fields, she saw people gathered around one place, in the football field. Loud voices were filling the air. She tried to find Adam through the crowd but she couldn’t see him. Maybe he wasn’t there? It wouldn’t hurt to check besides she was wondering what had happened that gathered all those people there. She walked closer and pushed a bit through the crowd to take a look.
What she saw made her freeze. Her boyfriend lieing on the ground with an open wound in his stomach. Tears filled her eyes and she furiously pushed people out of the way. She dropped to her knees as tears started streaming down her face. She picked his head up moving it on her lap and saw him blinking with a soft smile even though he must have been in great pain "Hey beautiful.." he said with half breath. She smiled slightly back at him through her tears that she couldn’t seem to stop. "Hey.." she said back stroking his hair with one hand "You ‘re gonna be okay.. Just hang on, alright?" she told him before asking the people gathered around if anyone had called an ambulance. As they confirmed they had, she felt a hand moving to hers. She looked at her hand, seeing Adam’s fingers sliding through hers "I love you.. Don’t you ever forget that" he said softly as his strength was giving up on him. She nodded her head a bit "I love you too.." she managed to say through her tears as his eyes fluttered closed and his hand went limp in hers.
She froze once again as everyone around her gasped. "A--Adam?" she found the strength to ask but she got no answer "ADAM!" she screamed shaking his body a bit as her tears formed two small rivers down her cheeks. She leaned over him, holding his lifeless body close to her crying in sobs as she could hear the ambulance siren in the distance..
~*~End of Flashback~*~
A single tear rolled down her cheek that she quickly moved her hand to wipe away. A couple of sobs escaped her too, before she manages to hold them back as a couple of more tears were standing at the edge of her eyes, threatening to fall. It was all too much, the two people she loved the most in her life were gone and after what had happened that day, she never got to get close with anyone. She didn’t want this to happen all over again but fate was too cruel and also took her mother away from her.
She was still standing there inside the yard of the high school, staring at the football field. Her hands moved around her body to hug herself, she didn’t feel that hot anymore. Cold, sickening air seemed to surround her. She felt her stomach jumbling as if she was gonna be sick. Closing her eyes, she moved a hand up to cover her forehead and eyes as she turned away from the football field and took a deep breath to calm herself down. Word Count: 750Tags: OpenOutfit: Clickey!
